UNITY IN CHRIST: TRUTH

Seems to me, more and more each day I find my Christian friends posting lie after lie on Social Media.

Seems to me, more and more each day I find my Christian friends posting lie after lie on Social Media. Things like this will mainly happen because they fail to check if a post is true before re-posting or sharing, or they just do not care because they like what it says.

As we draw closer to another major election I feel as though we have lost all sense of Unity and have given into telling as many falsehoods as possible determined to destroy the opposing side. Somewhere along the way we decided “United We Stand, Divided We Fall” is meaningless. As Christians we should be setting that example of TRUTH. We may fool our friends, and maybe even fool ourselves, but God always knows the truth. (“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:24)

My wife and I recently watched a couple of movies, one from the 1960’s and the other from the 2000’s where both were dealing with little lies and what they grow into. Both caused unspeakable horrors for the individuals the lies were told about, one even ended in a tragedy. Sometimes when lies are told there is no turning back no matter how we try to turn it around. During both films I just kept thinking of how one little lie can destroy an entire life, or maybe even many lives. How can we allow evil into our hearts without even thinking about it? Even using a portion of the truth is still a lie, which is what happens with many of us. When we take the truth and inject even a small falsehood into it, it may look and sound like the truth, but it is still a lie. (Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight. Proverbs 12:22)

God is ALWAYS in control; we best believe that. Many of my Christian brothers and sisters have been know to say of our current President, “God put him into the position, so it is God’s will that he is there” but then turn right around and say “if he (either candidate applies) doesn’t win, our country is over.” Did we just forget about God’s will? God will guide our hearts and the person that He needs for this season will win, I truly believe that. And yes, whatever happens to our country, that is also God’s will. If we believe in the Bible, let us believe in the entire Bible, not just when it suits our needs. (Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:18)

It is my intention to vote however the Lord leads, and I refuse to tell lies to try and persuade others to follow what I feel. We all need to pray and ask God to PLEASE guide our choices, and campaigning is fine, but can we just tell the truth? God knows the truth, and if we choose to seek the truth, we will find it.

I love my country, and I love the freedoms we are afforded. Let us not use these freedoms to destroy but to build UNITY. Unity In Christ, AMEN!

The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever
Psalm 119:160
